Canepa to wild card Alstare's 1199

The Team SBK Ducati Alstare and the Team Barni Racing agreed on Canepa's wild-card. The Italian rider will take part on both World SBK races at Donington Park on 26th of May, Nicolo being the actual leader in the World Superstock 1000 Championship on a Ducati 1199 Panigale.

This was an opportunity to carry out important setup work with the Desmosedici GP13 Thanks to perfect weather conditions the team was able to take full advantage of the planned day, with Dovizioso riding 42 laps on Wednesday and 54 on Thursday, and Hayden turning 29 and 60, respectively. It's not Rossi who managed to ride Ducati that hard, it's Andrea Dovizioso. FP3 was the moment when the italian started to push the Desmosedici machine to it's limits after two previous sessions where he tried to find the best settings possible for tha Losail circuit, in the end, ha managed just a -0.001' off Rossi's Yamaha.

After Jerez, Dovi still does not know how the tires will look like during a full race. The bad weather made that Ducati team to loose precious developing time for their GP machine and as Dovizioso said, they will head Qatar in total darkness regarding the race pace and the tires durability during a full race.

This was the alst chance for Ducati Team to put their heads down on a track before the season's opener in Qatar. A very rainy weekend with not so many options for the riders, other than waiting some hours for the track to dry.Ducati brought the GP13 for the official riders but also a totally new GP machine was present at the track and tested by Michele Pirro.

15th of March will bring Ducati's new 1199 Panigale R in USA to be officially presented. Circuit of Americas in Austin Texas will be the host for this event and after Yamaha and Honda brought there their GP racers to test, Ducati found a cheaper solution to collect some data about the track, sending Spies and Hayden with the new 1199 R.
